my grandaddy was hit by a bus

In other Grandaddy news, guitarist Jim Fairchild is currently on the mend after he was, quite literally, hit by a bus. The band had just completed an opening gig for Pete effing Yorn in Phoenix on May 26th and were loading up to head to the next evening's show in San Diego, when he fell under the wheels of a bus carrying the band's production gear. According to a post on the band's website:

"Here is a quick recap: the booze was flowing so the details are a bit blurry. Seems Jim was kicking it with the Pete Yorn guys on Pete's bus. While having a good time, Jim sort of did a little stumble fall down the steps and out of the door of the bus and on to the ground. Unlucky for him, the 18 wheeler that carries the production gear was on its way to San Diego. As it was leaving the parking lot the 17th or 18th wheel rolled over Jim's shoulder, breaking some little bones that I can't pronounce let alone spell... Jim was taken to the hospital, he is OK, he can play guitar, he just does it in a chair with a sling on his arm." Rock!

august first i will see him sit in his chair and play guitar and august 3rd too!
